This morning while frantically writing this assignment that was due an hour and a half later, I realized that hey, this might make a lame blog post... so here is my assignment for my business 101 class that I am required to take because of my minor in Management in Business Information Systems which is a part of the business school at UNLV.
Oh how i can't wait until i can be done with school so i can concentrate on actual business and not just talk about future business in theory. Enjoy my ramblings below.

Article 1: New Data Privacy Laws Set For Firms by Ben Worthen
This article is from the Wall Street Journal and was published on October 16, 2008. Worthen discusses a new “Nevada law that took effect this month that requires all businesses [in Nevada] to encrypt personally-identifiable customer data, including names and credit-card numbers, that are transmitted electronically.” Worthen further describes that Nevada is on of the first few states that are adopting this policy. Estimates show that this will cost average small businesses up to $3,000 of up front cost and around $500 extra operating cost to comply with this new security requirement.
I don't know what i did to deserve working with this P.O.S. every day. Here is an example of how not to design a user interface:

Get a clue.
This post is to verify (to facebook blog networks) that I am indeed the author of this blog. I hope this works.
I got a question today from a friend about how to color coat the labels in the gmail interface. So, I thought I would take this opportunity to use my newly acquired jing project video making skills to answer this question. Enjoy:
For a while I have been looking for an easy way to make screen caps, both still image and video. I think I have finally found a solution in the Jing Project. The reason i need this functionality is to be able to show clients how to do things on the sites that I create for them.
This blog post is a test of the ease of use of jing... so here is my first jing video:
Happy 10th Anniversary of the Great Water Fight of '98 at Santa Margarita High School. It was May 1st, 1998 when the greatest of water fights took over the school.
Thanks to Hopper for documenting the whole thing. I was digging through some old tapes and came by this footage and could not help but upload it.
There are too many faces to list... Look closely, you may see yourself.
See you at the 10 year reunion in July!

So, it has been a week or so since my last post. Dom and I have been experimenting with ustream.tv and justin.tv, but I have found the process to be a bit brutal with our lack of upload speed (or maybe my obsession with redundant network backs running constantly). So, we haven't been on much... but that could change, we will see.
Meanwhile, here is a video of Dom walking, well almost:
So tonight I had a thought while procrastinating doing reading for school... I had an idea to start "lifecasting" Dominic and I's nights together. I feel it might be a fun little experiment of documenting so fun times with our son.
He is about Nine months old and is developing rapidly. I hope to catch some milestones on video of him doing various things as he learns and grows. feel free to check in every now and then to see if we are broadcasting. Just click the z3cka's show link above to watch (or maybe i will put it on the front page in a block or something later, if this catches on).
Here is a introductory recording of the show:
I tend to have these Ideas from time to time and sometimes they fizzle out, so don't be surprised if the same fate is true for this venture.
cheers,
-Casey
